False Casting

False casting is a series of forward and backcasts that do not allow the line to fall on the forward cast position. Hence, the forward cast is treated as just another backcast. Its purpose is to establish both length and direction for casting accuracy. False casting increases distance and floating properties. It dries off the fly improving its floating properties.

The basic 10 to 2 o’clock casting strokes are made reversing their directions when the line is about straight. If the casting stroke is made prior to line straightening an annoying whipping action occurs.
