Foam Lines
Foam lines are the surface accumulations of floating matter. Here stillborn, emerging, and drowned terrestrial insects are collected. The foam traps the insects and holds them in place. The surface tension along with the foam holds the insects. The foam creates an overhead canopy that protects the fish from bird predation. Also this canopy shades the sunlight; as a result, there are usually fish underneath a foam line.
