Gills: triangular, nearly covering the first half of their abdomens

Tails: 2 or 3

Mobility: spends lots of time on surface film

Body Color: males are black or chocolate colored, (some may be lighter and have hint of grey or pale yellow); females have olive abdomen and dark brown thorax

Size: 3-6mm

Abdomen: short and stubby

Wings: 1 set, no hind wings, plastic transparent looking

Tails: 3

Body Colors: female, olive abdomen and dark brown thorax; male, dark brown or black

Mobility: after mating on slow, weedy streams, spinner falls are intense, blanketing the surface

Size: 3-6mm
