Dutch Oven Care & Use
Conditioning a New Oven
Most of the new ovens are already conditioned and this step can be omitted. But if you acquire an oven that is not seasoned, use the following procedure.
Cast Iron Cleaning
Put 3-4 cups of warm water in the Dutch oven. Use a bristled brush and clean out the inside of the oven thoroughly.
Temperature Regulation
The heat source for a Dutch oven can be either charcoal briquettes or campfire coals. Charcoal briquettes are the most convenient way to heat.
